GeorgE Alevrofas

I am a guitarist who thrives from teaching others whatever they need in order to successfully achieve their musical goals. I teach a broad range of styles and techniques, while covering all the important aspects of learning how to play and understand music, which include: music theory and its application, fundamental rhythms, ear-training, chord identification, listening techniques, and most importantly, the “right” way to practice.

Guitar is my ultimate passion in life, and I want to help you reach your goals on the instrument with all the knowledge I have to offer.

My work experience

  • 2017 – present: Private guitar teacher

  • 2015 – 2017: Graduate Teaching Assistant in Classical Guitar at University of Denver

  • 2014 – 2015: Guitarist at Chosen Generation Church in Bowie MD

  • 2012 – 2015: Clinician at Severn River Middle School, and Broadneck High School
    Performed classical and rock guitar; gave lectures on performing and importance of music in education, and various playing techniques and styles.

  • 2010 – 2012: Private guitar teacher at Music and Arts
    Private guitar teacher for a variety of ages and experience levels.

  • 2007 – 2015: Self-employed guitar teacher at George Alevrofas Guitar Studio
    My own personal teaching business, where I traveled to homes and gave customized lessons. All ages.

  • 2015 – 2017 Masters of Music in Classical Guitar Performance at University of Denver, CO.
  • 2009 – 2013 Bachelor of Music in Classical Guitar Performance at Towson University, MD

Key achievements
  • Performing solo classical guitar, duos, trios, quartets, quintets, successfully organized arrangements, and rehearsals for multiple recitals.
  • Performing chamber music as a violin/guitar duo.
  • Reaching a high level for music interpretation and performance, including repertoire from Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern.
  • Achieving a total understanding of the fretboard through the process of improvisation, and aural training throughout the years.
  • Ability to write and arrange music ranging in a wide variety of styles.
  • Performed Mandolin in Das Lied von der Erde by Gustav Mahler with the Lamont Symphony Orchestra.
  • Participated in multiple classes: Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, and the Assad Duo, October 2016, 2012, and February 2013.
  • Featured solo classical guitarist playing alongside Towson University’s Symphonic Band, directed by Dr. Dana Rothlisberger, February-March 2012.
  • Performed at An Die Musik, and GFA (Guitar Foundation of America) Regional Symposium in Washington D.C. December 2011, March 2012.
  • Ability to utilize notational software.
  • Vast experience recording all popular styles including metal, rock, pop, blues, and classical.
  • Recorded and released a full-length album with the Danish rock band Skarnet.
  • Toured all throughout Denmark with the tribute band Guns N’ Roses Jam.
